Family is crucial to my life. I am the only child and was born in a family of three who live in harmony. My parents wanted to give birth to a second child as my sibling before. Afterwards, they dismissed the idea because of my mother’s age and health condition.
My mom is very considerate, and she took great care of me, although my grandma also helped with looking after me at my early age. At the same time, she is an impetuous person and usually wears her heart on her sleeve. Therefore, it is easy to find out whether she is pleasant or not. She spent her childhood and schooling in Hong Kong and now works as an English teacher in a private school in Guangdong. My reading hobby is also from my mom’s training since my childhood. Because of her occupation, we have the same schooling and vacation time, she could watch over my routine and give me some learning suggestions as well. She has her own unique taste and lifestyle. For example, she habitually has afternoon tea every day at about 4 pm, with a cup of coffee or black tea, and enjoys her moments with some snacks. Her favorite dessert is French bitter chocolate souffle. However, she loves baking very much, and she makes various cakes and dessert when she has spare time. She would be in charge of the baking cake if the special holidays or birthdays are coming. By the way, she plays the accordion and piano from her early age, and now she occasionally plays on weekends. My mother and I both like shopping for clothes and jewelries. It is most relaxed and joyful for us to spend an afternoon on taking a tea party and shopping with abandon.

Although my mother treats me well, she never spoils me. One of the things that impressed me most was that when I was in the third grade of elementary school, I really longed for a pink dress which would make me like a princess. But my mother didn’t promise me this gift. She said that if I can get the top three in the class on the monthly examination and help with housework starting from that day, then I would be rewarded. I hesitated for a while, but I thought it was rational. After that, I actively helped with housework every day, and I didn’t slacken in my studies at the same time. I tried my best, eventually I got the second place in the class. My mom came to pick me up from school that day, and she took out my dream dress and talked to me with a big smile. “In reality, even if you didn’t get the top three, I managed to give you the gift for your hard working during these weeks. Remember, no pains, no gains, and you have to stick it out!” Since then, I deeply understand that every effort will be rewarded. Although now I realized that, sometimes the reward does not come in time, I believe I reap what I sow.
My dad is a quiet, steady and affable person. He is a person that I sincerely admire. He never hesitates to help his friends or relatives who need a hand. He commits himself to education and now manages remediation institutions. Although he is very busy at work all day long,he always finds a balance between life and work, and hardly forgets to spend time with family. My dad made the plans for our family vacation in advance every time before me and my mom’s long vacation. My dad also loves bodybuilding in particular. In his opinion, a healthy and strong body is the foundation of everything, and I cannot agree with this anymore.
I was under great pressure for the college entrance examination when I was in high school, which was not from my family, but myself and school. I was confused and depressed for a long while and afraid that I would not be able to get a satisfying grade for entrance of university. On a weekend afternoon, my dad asked me to have a chat while he was drinking kung Fu tea, “Take it easy,” He said gently, “Don’t be defeated by the college entrance examination. Your only enemy is in your heart. Besides, daddy actually prepared a dream capital for you. If you do not satisfy with the university and major, then you would be free to realize your dream with it. I would stand by your side forever. You are able to be what you want to be one day in the future.” After this chat, my eyes filled with tears, and I was aware of the great caring from my dad. He never put pressure on me but offered his shoulders to me at the same time. I was immediately enlightened and relaxed, then totally put my mind on study. I continued preparing for the final examination, and as a result, my grades were not bad. I did choose the well-pleasing school and major.

This is my family of three. Although our lives are not on a grand and spectacular scale, but sweet and warm. Mom and dad are the persons who love me most in this world. I also love them deeply. When they get old, I would do my best to take good care of them. And now it is the moment I have to work really hard to become the proud of my family.
